Alpha-Insulation, 60g/sqm [MM]

This innovative insulation by Malden Mills was designed with the aim of creating a synthetic insulation for wintery endurance sports with a significantly higher breathability. Compared to a synthetic insulation like Climashield, the Alpha-insulation has a more airy construction and rather reminds of a high-loft fleece. In general, it is a lighter insulation. Its core consists of an open, hydrophobic polyester knit that has a loft of very fine, stable fibers on in- and outside maintaining body heat within its air chambers. That construction allows an excellent air exchange between the body and environment. This excellent breathability prevents from overheating and allows an optimal transport of moisture to the outside. The Alpha-Insulation still warms in damp conditions, is very well compressible and very easy to care. It can be used with a variety of fabrics. In order to obtain maximum lightweight and breathability, a combination with very thin, lightweight, windresistant taffeta fabrics is ideal. This version also does not need a lining. The perfect field of application are sweaters, jackets, vests, trousers or gloves for active outdoor sports, e.g. Mountaineering, running, cross-country skiing or ski-touring. Of course it works also very well for everyday garment.
