Product information

Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 3.2, 104g/sqm, 2nd choice

Dyneema® Composite Fabric is a high-tech laminate originally developed for the sailing industry. During production, tear-resistant fibers are embedded between two thin, transparent polyester films - a process typical of sailcloth laminates. What sets this material apart is the fiber itself: Dyneema® is widely regarded as one of the strongest fibers in the world, combining low weight with exceptionally high tensile strength. The material stands out for its high tear resistance, minimal stretch (even when wet), and resistance to creasing, UV exposure, and chemicals. The specific application depends on the amount of Dyneema® fiber used and the chosen carrier material. Typically, a transparent film is applied on both sides, allowing for easy bonding and ensuring high water resistance.

Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 3.2 is equipped with an additional layer of 50 denier polyester fabric on the outside of the fabric! This significantly increases abrasion resistance. The transparent film on the inside ensures high water resistance and is easy to bond. Thanks to the bidirectional Dyneema® fibers in between, the result is extremely tear-resistant and lightweight. With a reduced amount of Dyneema® fibers, Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 3.2 is the lightest Hybrid version at 104g/sqm, ideal for ultralight backpacks, daypacks, or accessory bags.

According to Avient, partially bio-circular raw materials are used in the production of the Dyneema® fibers used in Dyneema® Composites. In this process, residual materials from the wood and pulp industries are incorporated into the raw material supply chain through a certified mass balance approach. Combined with the use of 100% renewable energy, this reduces greenhouse gas emissions during fiber production compared to conventional HMPE. Avient reports a reduction of approximately 3.76 kg of CO2 equivalents per kilogram of Dyneema® fiber. According to the manufacturer, the technical properties of the fibers are identical to those of conventional Dyneema®. The bio-circular raw materials used are certified under the ISCC mass balance system.

Processing
Due to the film on the inside and the fabric on the outside Dyneema® Composite Hybrid can be either sewn or glued. Due to the compact construction, it is very easy to work with Dyneema® Composite Hybrid. It can be easily folded, doesn't stretch or fray and can be easily glued. To seal seams and enhance seam strength you can apply a Dyneema® Composite Fabric repair tape to the inside of the seam.
Cutting
We recommend micro-serrated scissors when cutting fabrics with Dyneema®. Scissors with normal cutting blades cut this material poorly and quickly become blunt. Heat-cutting with a heat-cutter is also possible.
Construction
Dyneema® Composite Hybrid consists of cross- and lengthwise Dyneema®-treads that are pressed and glued between a layer of transparent polyester-film and a thin polyester-fabric. The result is a permanently bonded, waterproof laminate with a textile, but smooth surface. Regular folding softens the fabric.
Color
White transparent shiny on the inside, color like option on the outside
Please note
Due to it's unique production process, Dyneema® Composite Fabric can contain stains, stripes, dots, variations in weaving or slight folding marks on the inside. Since this doesn't affect the technical properties, this is not an error.
Export regulations
Dyneema® Composite sheet fabric is subject to the regulations of the United States Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and is classified Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) 1C990. The (re)export, or (re)transfer for military end-use in China, Hong Kong, Russia, Belarus, Cambodia and Venezuela is prohibited. Additionally, shipments to Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria are prohibited. These restrictions apply to both the direct supply, and to the subsequent or downstream (re)transfer or any applications containing these items. For more infomation please get in touch with our customer service.
Trademark use
To use the Dyneema® trademark on your products, a trademark license agreement is required. This agreement can only be entered into directly with Avient. If needed, we would be happy to put you in direct contact with them.
