You need them, for example, for making bags or for all zips that can be opened on a maximum of one side. The 3VS zipper is a slim zip that is suitable for applications where load capacity and transverse tensile strength are not the main requirements. Instead, it scores with low weight and a lot of flexibility. Non-separable 3VS zips are ideal, for example, for vents or pockets on clothing, for zip pullovers or even for small pockets on backpacks or shoulder bags. And of course also for many ultralight projects, as an alternative to the more substantial 5VS zipper tape.
