XL handlebar bag made from X-Pac® RX30 in goldenrod
And yet another Junk Trunk! However, this one is a slightly slimmed-down version in much brighter colors: the Junk Trunk base on a sewing pattern by The Functional Sewing Project. Since the bag is designed for a gravel bike in size XS with a correspondingly narrow dropbar handlebar, the side pockets have been made smaller and the width has been reduced slightly. In addition, the extra zipper access has been omitted. So it's really tailor-made!

But the real eye-catcher is, of course, the choice of colors and materials—as befits material experts: X-Pac VX30 in goldenrod for the exterior, ripstop polyester lining in magenta, reinforcement in 1000 denier Cordura® in pink, and gray straps for a subtle contrast. And for an additional color contrast, there are Fixplus® gear straps in purple.
This time, lightweight Apex side release buckles were used as buckles – the Fidlock® slider buckles proved to be not particularly practical in the XL version of the Junk Trunk. The buckles close perfectly, of course, but the sideways sliding motion required to open them is a little impractical in this location.
The bag is reinforced with a 1 mm thick polyethylene plate. This means it holds its shape well even when not fully packed. To ensure that the bag stays reliably in place, it is supported by the SIXTYSIX handlebar mount from Fogoods. This makes it very easy to install.
