Sun Hoodie made of UVP 50+ jersey fabric

A wonderfully lightweight, soft sun hoodie—or UV shirt—made from our new heathered performance jersey in the color light sage. Thanks to its UV protection factor of 50+, the sun hoodie provides reliable protection against sunburn, even in strong sunlight. It has already proven itself on many outings during the recent, very sunny and hot days.

The Fabric

UV50+ Sun Protection

The jersey’s high level of sun protection is achieved through the fabric’s dense weave, not through any additional finish. This means the protection cannot be washed out and remains effective over the long term, even after many washes and frequent wear. Despite the dense weave, the fabric remains highly breathable and soft to the touch, and you won’t overheat in it even in hot temperatures.

Soft Feel

The pleasant feel is enhanced by the use of particularly soft, slightly textured yarns. Thanks to this soft surface, the jersey can be worn comfortably directly against the skin without sticking to it during sweaty workouts.

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I

Thanks to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certification, this functional jersey can be worn safely directly against the skin—with Class I certification, it is even approved for use in children’s clothing.

Material Blend

The material blend of 60% polyester, 29% polyamide, and 11% spandex combines the properties of these three yarns into a fabric suitable for many applications: polyester is durable and dries exceptionally quickly, while polyamide is highly abrasion-resistant. Thanks to the moderate 11% spandex content, the fabric offers good stretch with moderate recovery, without becoming too heavy or retaining too much moisture. It does not pill, even under heavy use.

Weight

Given the fabric’s lightweight weight of 115 g/sqm, the entire Sun Hoodie in size XL weighs 196 g. And you don’t have to compromise on durability or performance.

6 heathered, light colors

The color selection is—as befits a fabric for Sun Hoodies—limited to light shades. The heathered effect creates an interesting look and adds variety. Despite the light colors, UV protection of 50+ is achieved.

Care

The jersey is extremely easy to care for. It can be machine-washed at up to 40 degrees. Even after washing, when compressed or stored to save space, it barely wrinkles and doesn’t need to be ironed. In our experience, it retains surprisingly little sweat odor for a synthetic fabric. It dries very quickly after washing.

Quality can be so close at hand. Some of the best manufacturers of performance jersey are based and produce in Italy. The fabric for the Sun Hoodie comes from one of these experts.

The Cut

Wider Cut for the Sun Hoodie

A slightly wider cut is ideal for use as a Sun Hoodie. This keeps the area under the fabric airy and prevents heat buildup. This can be particularly advantageous during high-intensity sports. For this hoodie, an existing long-sleeve pattern was slightly modified. It was enhanced with a hood and thumb loops. To keep it especially lightweight, a zipper was omitted.

Relaxed Fit for Shirts, T-Shirts, etc.

The jersey is, of course, also suitable for many other applications where a comfortable feel or soft texture is important: shirts, etc., for any kind of sport—whether at the gym or on an Alpine hike.

Form-fitting cut

With 11% spandex, the jersey can, of course, also be used for form-fitting tops. Please note that UV protection may be reduced in areas that are stretched significantly.
