Retro anorak for the Andes

Stylish retro design with 3-layer laminate

It is a parka / anorak what I used years ago (70s...) as a teenager in the Bolivian Andes. I thought the jacket was brilliantly designed back then, because it offered me optimal protection in very different and difficult conditions. Unfortunately, it got lost to me sometime over the years and quite a few attempts to find it somewhere on the e-market failed. As far as I can remember, this jacket was probably a product of the company "Abercrombie" from New York, from the time when the company still produced real "Outdoor Gear". Now I have brought it back to life from my memories. In doing so, I took the liberty of introducing some "improvements", such as the side entry, or the vents under the armpits. Also the internal 3D net was not present in the original. The last weekend I could also try the new jacket properly, while climbing the "Iztaccihuatl Vulcan" (5250 m), near the city of Mexico City. There has been a lot of progress in the last few years in terms of technology, materials, details, etc.. But whoever originally designed this simple jacket knew exactly what he was doing!

As material I used the following material: GT-XR, 3-ply-laminate, PTFE-membrane, soft, 150g/sqm, plus 3D mesh, Velcro and some fleece for the hood, which was also not used in the original. Next I will try to have the same jacket sewn, but with etaproof cotton....

Many greetings
Juan Gaston Bejarano Gerke
