A little pencil case like this is a wonderful project for in between. The sewing is not too complicated and also suitable for beginners. And the size can be varied according to your needs or the available material. In no time at all you have sewn an individual gift or an organisational aid for everyday life.
Tyvek® hardstructure was used as the outer material for this pencil case. The properties of Tyvek® hardstructure are somewhere between paper and fabric. It has the structure and feel of paper and can be written on, painted and printed on, but is tear-resistant and can be sewn well. However, it is not quite as abrasion-resistant as a comparable fabric - but the feel and look are unique.
The zip was processed as a so-called reverse coil zip for a more discreet look. For this, conventional YKK 3C zipper tape by the meter was used and a 3C Aquaguard slider with small pull-tab was used. This allows the zip to be processed with the reverse side facing outwards.
A thin ripstop nylon is used as the inner lining. This nicely conceals the seams on the inside and, if you like, you can use it to add colour accents in contrast to the white Tyvek® hardstructure.
