Surprisingly simple sewn padded laptop bag with velcro closure. The piece was ready within half an hour. I used the lightweight X-Pac VX07 as the outer material, the lining made of 3mm thick 3D mesh protects the laptop from shocks. The piece weighs just 130g for a size of 35x24cm.
And it's as simple as this:
1. cut the fabric to the right size for the laptop. The 3D-mesh fabric has no seam allowance, the outer fabric has a 2cm seam allowance.
2. sew the velcro tape onto the lining, the fleece tape onto the outer fabric. The correct position can be found out by testing with the laptop.
3. place the 3D-mesh fabric left to left in the middle of the outer fabric and sew it close to the edge. There will be a 2cm overhanging edge of the outer fabric all around.
4. half of the edge is turned to the left and sewn in place. The result is a 1 cm wide border of outer fabric.
5. the part that holds the laptop is folded right sides together and the edges are sewn close to the 3D mesh fabric, without taking the mesh fabric with it.
6. now just fold the 1cm wide outer fabric edges of the cover onto the net fabric and sew them in place - done. Or have I forgotten something?
