Neopren is the preferred material for water sports. Its insulating properties, low weight and high elasticity make it ideal for wetsuits for diving or surfing. Starting material is always chloroprene rubber - a rubber-like, elastic foam, where super small air bubbles are enclosed. Through these bubbles, the good insulating property is achieved next to a low weight. Neoprene is produced in different thicknesses and with diverse surfaces and it can also be laminated to different outer fabrics, for example with a thin, skin friendly jersey. Therefore, neoprene is suitable for many other purposes: as cushion on backpacks and bags, for sturdy, elastic inserts, protective covers for laptops or smartphones or for orthopedic applications.
