The basic construction is the same for all ECOPAK® laminates: they consist of a polyester outer fabric, 45° crossply reinforcement fibres and an inner side made of a polyester film, optionally with an additional ripstop polyester lining.
Challenge distinguishes between two lines:
EPLX: with the EPLX line, a transparent, UV-resistant film is on the inside and the Crossply fibres remain visible.
EPX: In the EPX line, an additional light ripstop lining is laminated on the inside. This means that the EPX styles also have a textile surface on the back, have more seam-stability and the light-coloured lining ensures a good visibility on the inside of backpacks.
There are different versions of each style. By using different outer materials from 70den thin ripstop polyester to 1680den ballistic polyester, each style is optimised for its intended use.
Currently we offer the following styles:
200den recycled polyester on the outside, transparent film on the inside. In between, visible from the inside, are the blue CrossPly fibres at a 45° angle. EPLX200 is a good choice for a waterproof liner. Or as an outer fabric on an ultralight backpack. Areas with heavy point loading such as shoulder strap attachments or daisy chains should be backed with an extra layer of fabric to prevent tearing. Weight 146g/sqm.
400den recycled polyester outer fabric, with the transparent film on the inside. In between, visible from the inside, are the blue CrossPly fibres at a 45° angle. Well suited for bags with a separate inner lining or as a stand-alone bag for high durability at a low weight of 235g/sqm.
200den recycled polyester outer, 70den ripstop lining inside. In between, at a 45° angle, are the blue CrossPly fibres and the transparent film. EPX200 is a good choice for small to medium sized backpacks. Weight 200g/sqm.
From 27.9.22 there are new colours: bright blue, coyote brown, deep purple, green Mt, fuchsia, snow white, wolf grey.
400den recycled polyester outside, 70den ripstop lining inside. In between are the blue 45° CrossPly fibres and the transparent film. Well suited for durable pack sacks or as a stand-alone material for maximum durability. Weight 304g/sqm.
From 27.9.2022 the style will be available in wolf grey.

EPX600
With 600den polyester on the outside and the 70den lining on the inside Ideal for all areas with high mechanical stress. Available in black.
EPLX840
840den polyester on the outside with the look of ballistic nylon. Ideal for bag bottoms and other high abrasion areas. Available in black.
EPLX1680
With extra strong 1680den polyester on the outside with the look of ballistic nylon. Ideal for bag bottoms and other high abrasion areas. Available in black.
