Kevlar®

The term Kevlar® refers to a synthetic fibre made from (para) aramid. It was first developed by DuPont™ in 1965. Like many fibres from the aramid group, it has a very good strength-to-weight ratio. In addition to their high tear resistance, fabrics made from Kevlar® are also very resistant to heat and abrasion, depending on the design, and offer protection against punctures and cuts.
Due to the high strength of the fibres, Kevlar® should only be cut with special scissors. Further information on the material class and processing can be found at Aramid.
