than a tent made of synthetic fiber. The advantages outweigh the relatively high weight of 3.5 kilos (without pole and pegs) by far. On the tour we decided against the tarp, because a closed construction protects much better from sand, wind and gives more privacy.
The mosquito net at the top of the tipi can be closed with a drawstring.
The construction of the tip had already proved itself with our Silnylon tipi. The tipi can be tightened from the inside, you don't even have to get out of the sleeping bag. With the cotton tipi, it has the advantage that there is much more room to maneuver when setting up. And the tip can be easily replaced if it is ever perforated by the pole.
