As there are many things to discover in Jordan where you can't go by bike, we had to take a daypack with us. Since it is most of the time in the bike bags, it should of course be as light as possible. For this a Silnylon backpack in UL style is perfect. The material is the very tear-resistant Silnylon, 330 Cordura, light mesh fabric and some individual parts. Total weight 250g.
To keep the basic weight as low as possible, the back part consists only of a thin spacer fabric. As additional padding, a sweater can be slipped in between.
As shoulder straps I used the mesh with fleece diamonds. It is very light, airy and skin-friendly. And if it is edged enough, it doesn't fray (so rather 25-30mm wide grossgrain ribbon - and not like here 20mm). To additionally stabilize the straps, I sewed on small bars made of 1mm PE sheet material. So that it does not "collapse" under load, I have sewn PE bars under the ribbed tape.
