X-Pac® UX10, backpack-laminate with UHMWPE, 85g/qm
With the UX series, X-Pac® has launched a new high-performance backpack laminate in the market. In the UX series, Dimension Polyant uses an outer fabric made of Ultra-PE (UHMW-PE) in a backpack laminate. UHMW-PE fibers are currently considered the non-plus-ultra in terms of tear and abrasion resistance and are also known as Dyneema®, Spectra®, Ultra® or Tsuunoga®.
X-Pac® UX10 is made of 3 layers and weighs only 85g/sqm. The outer fabric is made of 100% 100D Ultra-PE fibers and thus ensures excellent abrasion resistance and tensile strength. The X-Ply fiber made of aramid at the 22° angle typical of X-PAC® ensures dimensional stability and high tear resistance. A polyester film is laminated on the inside to ensure that the fabric is completely waterproof. The seams can be easily sealed from the inside with UltraTNT tape.
The X-Pac® UX10 is therefore perfect for ultralight bags and backpacks. Areas subject to high punctual loads, such as shoulder strap attachments or daisy chains, should be backed with an additional layer of fabric to prevent tearing.
And for those who are not yet familiar with X-Pac®: The structure of X-Pac® is similar to a multi-layer sail laminate. This allows it to be optimized for different applications. You can find more information about X-Pac® and an overview of our different X-Pac® variants on our X-Pac® page.
